G7 Chord for Ukulele
The G7 chord for the Ukulele is shown on the fingering diagram to the left. This applies to standard ukulele tuning (GCEA) for soprano, tenor, and concert ukuleles. The G7 chord is a fun little chord and shouldn’t be too difficult to master.
The G7 chord is made up of the G, D, F, and B notes. Some ukulele chords have repeating notes. For instance, when the Dm chord is played on the ukulele it contains two A notes. However, for the G7 chord, it is important that all four strings be played.
There was a time when the use of seventh chords was considered unorthodox and dissonant. The seventh chord didn’t fit with the then-current models of composing. However modern music has very much embraced the 7th chord. Major Seventh chords are often found in romantic ballads and soul music. They possess a warm feel, and you find the 7th chord used in love songs, jazz and blues music. 7th chords also make great transition chords, that is leading from one part of a song to another.
